Locked Down in Vancouver
It has been a while since we posted on our blog. When you last heard from us we were in Chiang Mai, Thailand. How times have changed since then. We retired intending to travel. Of course that was no longer possible. How the heck did we spend our time?
We returned to Canada in April 2020 and hunkered down to a simple life. There was nothing else anyone could do. For many months we stayed close to home, semi-isolated. It gave us a great chance to explore Vancouver by foot.
As vaccination rates increased and travel restrictions were relaxed in British Columbia, we ventured further afield. We did a few road trips to visit family in other parts of B.C. and Western Canada. Many of you live outside Canada so we decided to share some pictures from our trips to entice you to visit Canada when travel restrictions ease. For Canadians, hopefully the pictures of sunny skies will brighten your day if it is raining outside.
Hope you are staying safe wherever you are.

We have resumed travelling, though differently than pre-Covid. We have slowed our pace and are focusing on lower-risk regions that are accepting vaccinated foreigners. We will post periodic updates to give you a sense of what it’s like to travel in 2021.
Looking good my friend!! Thank you for starting up your blog again, it is a sign we are starting to get on with our lives! It has been a roller coaster ride that is for sure. Can’t wait to see where you are travelling next.
Good to hear from you again and glad to hear you have travel plans. We just returned from 2 months in Europe and it felt heavenly to travel again. I look forward to reading your blog again.
Happy and safe travels!
I’m so glad you are posting again. I love watching where to travel to and what you find. Hoping Mark and myself can resume as well, as that was our plan, not as extravagant as you or living abroad, but to go out and explore.
i didn’t know you understood German.
i love this picture of you two.
Till the next post 🙂

Thank you for the post, both George & Maria. Such great pictures and a snapshot of how you have recently passed your time since Chiang Mai. Stay safe in Europe and enjoy the relative freedom!
Loving all the pictures, such talent photographers!
I see you made it to Pitt Meadows, reminds me that we have to get a walk in!
Where does the time go?
Fabulous photo…you both look so happy! Looking forward to following along on your adventures again. Stay safe and stay happy as you live the dream!
Nice to hear from you again, Maria (and George, of course). Very wise to take a slower step, but I’m sure it won’t be long before you will be travelling further and further.
It was a long winter and a terrible summer here in The Netherlands. We decided not to wait until Thailand opens its doors and booked a fourweek’s trip to Curacao, part of the Netherlands, in Jan. 2022. It is nice and hot there and there are enough interesting things to see. Stay stafe! Dieuwke
